Two self-storage companies in Texas are striving to make a positive difference in their communities.
Texan Self Storage in Leander, Texas partnered with the Leander ISD Educational Excellence Foundation to hold a book exchange to inspire children to read more during the summer break from school. Kids were encouraged to bring in gently used books and exchange them for different ones that they could take home and read.
As a fun incentive to get kids to the event, Texan Self Storage also provided a bounce house and snacks.
Another Texan company—Watson & Taylor Self Storage—recently partnered with Texas Service Dogs to hold a shoe drive. The drive is being used to raise money for Texas Service Dogs to provide a disabled veteran with a much-needed service dog.
Texas Service Dogs is a non-profit organization that takes donated puppies from reputable breeders and trains them to be service dogs for adults and children with physical or psychological disabilities. Dogs are rigorously trained for two years before they are placed with the adult or child.
In order to provide the service dog to the disabled veteran, a total of four to nine thousand dollars needs to be raised from the shoe drive. Watson & Taylor is donating the use of a storage unit year-round to store the collected shoes.
As a shout-out of thanks for the donated storage space, the Watson & Taylor Self Storage logo will be featured on the latest Texas Service Dogs t-shirt.
Watson & Taylor Self Storage has locations in 11 cities in Texas, including two in Austin, as well as another facility in Wichita, Kansas.
